2004 Hyundai Tiburon I4 APEX’i SAFC Neo wiring diagram
The neo does not use a knock sensor signal...the purple wire on the neo is for VTEC...the diagram for the i4 with the pin lay out threw me off. DO NOT WIRE THE KNOCK SENSOR.
2004 Hyundai Tiburon I4 ECU connector location:
C33 ECU connector and pin diagram:
The Neo harness has 9 wires used for the 2004 Hyundai Tiburon, and they are: red, red/white, green, gray, brown, black, yellow, white, and orange.
WARNING: Never perform electronic servicing on your vehicle unless the ground wire of the battery is disconnected in order to avoid the hazard of electrocution and/ or short circuiting electrical circuits.
NOTE: Soldering connections and covering with heat-shrink tubing provides the most secure connections. Using unstable connections increases the risk of short circuiting and/ or fire hazard.
NOTE: splice red wire of Neo harness closer to ECU than red/white wire. See above diagram.
NOTE: splice brown wire of Neo harness closer to ECU than black wire. See above diagram.
NOTE: cut green/ white MAF signal wire in two, and then splice yellow wire of Neo harness into the section of the green/ white wire which is closest to the ECU, and splice the white wire of the Neo harness into the section of the green/ white wire which is farther away from the ECU. See above diagram.
The following annotates where each wire of the APEX’i Neo harness may be spliced into the ECU harness, including the ECU connector, connector pin number, and ECU wire harness color emanating from the respective pin:
Power supply, switched 12v: C33, pin 22; red wire
RPM signal: C33, pin 66; white wire
Throttle position signal (TPS): C33, pin 32; white wire
Ground: C33, pin 1 or pin 2; black wire (each)
MAF (Airflow sensor): C33, pin 60; green/ white wire
Illumination power: (see below)
There are many options for splicing into illumination power. Essentially, you need a wire that receives 12v switched power when your light switch on the steering column is turned (switched) to “parking lights” (middle position).
Since the Neo harness splices into the ECU located behind and below the glove box area, the easiest location to splice into illumination power is also located circa the glove box area. That way, you do not have to extend your Neo harness to reach a distant location.
Here is your glove box lamp:
Remove your glove box and trace the harness until you reach another joint connector as seen in the picture below:
Splice into the wire emanating from pin 1 of the female connector. Or, you may splice into the wire emanating from the male connector side. Both are red in color. This will provide you with 12v switched, illumination power.
